One Lift That Fits Three Different Bays: the Daytona LTPA12 12,000 lb Two Post Adjustable Overhead Lift

Buying a fixed-width two post lift means committing to one bay layout forever. Set the columns wide and you lose walking room on both sides. Set them narrow and the day a dually rolls in you find out the hard way. Shops that move, add a bay, or change what they service end up owning a lift that fit the building they used to have.

The Daytona LTPA12 solves that with three adjustable width settings. Overall width runs from 150.3' to 162.1' and drive-thru clearance from 107.0' to 118.8', set at installation and changeable later if the bay changes. Underneath it is a proper 12,000 lb lift on dual direct drive hydraulic cylinders with cable equalization, so there is no chain in the load path to stretch or tension.

Safety is handled by automatic safety locks with single-point release and an overhead height limit switch, with full-length rubber door guards on both columns. Three-stage front arms reach 32.3' to 63.8', truck adapters ship standard, and it runs on 240V single phase at 3 HP and 13 amps. The lift stands 141.7' overall, so plan on a 12'-3' ceiling.

Not sure which width setting your bay needs? Call a Garage Equip Pro lift specialist with your bay dimensions and we will work it out with you. If your ceiling is under 12 feet, the LTPF12 floorplate lift hits the same 12,000 lbs at 114.0' tall. For ALI certification look at the BR10-2OH-33, and for heavier work the 15,000 lb LTPO15. Or compare every 2 post car lift and the full Daytona lineup.

Benefits of the Daytona LTPA12

Three width settings, not one
Overall width adjusts 150.3' to 162.1' and drive-thru clearance 107.0' to 118.8'. Set it narrow to keep walking room in a tight bay, wide to take dual rear wheel trucks, and change it later if the shop does.
Direct drive with cable equalization
A cylinder in each column drives its carriage directly and equalization cables keep both sides level. No chain to stretch, and no periodic tensioning on the maintenance schedule.
12,000 lbs for the trucks that pay
Two thousand pounds more capacity than a 10k lift, which covers three-quarter and one-ton pickups, full-size vans, and loaded service bodies without checking the scale first.
Clear floor, overhead cables
Equalization runs through the top beam, so nothing crosses the floor between the columns. Transmission jacks, drain pans, and creepers move without a plate in the way.
Single-point release and limit switch
Automatic locks engage through the travel and release from one handle. The overhead height limit switch stops the carriage before a tall roof finds the bar.
Standard 240V single phase power
3 HP at 13 amps on a dedicated 240V circuit. No three-phase service and no rotary converter in the install budget.

Key Features of the Daytona LTPA12 12k Adjustable Lift

• Three adjustable width settings: The defining feature. Width between the columns runs 122.0' to 133.9', drive-thru clearance 107.0' to 118.8', and overall floor width 150.3' to 162.1'. Chosen at installation and adjustable afterward.

• 12,000 lb lifting capacity: Lifting range runs from a 3.9' minimum pad height up to 68.9'. Three-stage front arms and two-stage rear arms reach 32.3' to 63.8', so short wheelbase cars and long trucks both find proper pickup points.

• Dual direct drive with cable equalization: One cylinder per column driving its carriage directly, with equalization cables keeping the two sides synchronized through the full travel. Fewer wear parts in the load path than a chain-over-cylinder design.

• Automatic safety locks, single-point release: Locks engage automatically as the carriage rises and release from one handle. An overhead height limit switch and full-length rubber door guards round out the safety package.

• 141.7' overall height: Columns stand 135.0' with the overhead beam bringing the total to 141.7'. Front clearance is 9.4' and the base plate is 0.8' thick across a 20.9' column footprint.

• Optional two-foot height extension kit: The LTPA12-EXT raises the overhead bar for taller vans and lifted trucks. The kit weighs 210 lbs and is sold separately, so shops with the ceiling can add it and shops without do not pay for it.

Minimum Garage Requirements

✓ Ceiling Height: 12'-3' recommended (lift stands 141.7' to the top of the overhead bar) ✓ Bay Width: 14'-6' recommended (162.1' at the widest setting) ✓ Concrete Thickness: Daytona sources differ: manual floor section: 4' of steel-reinforced 3,500 PSI concrete cured 28 days; manual installation section: C30 foundations deeper than 600 mm; Daytona flyer: minimum 6' at 4,000 PSI; confirm with Daytona before installing

*Daytona's documents differ on this lift's concrete (manual floor section: 4' of steel-reinforced 3,500 PSI concrete cured 28 days; manual installation section: C30 foundations deeper than 600 mm; Daytona flyer: minimum 6' at 4,000 PSI), so confirm with Daytona before ordering. The slab must be level within 3/8' across the installation area, with no anchor placed within 6' of a crack, edge, or expansion joint. Many residential garage slabs are poured at 4', which may not meet the stricter figures. Installing on inadequate concrete may result in serious injury or death. It is the customer's responsibility to verify concrete thickness and strength prior to purchase and installation.

Daytona LTPA12 Frequently Asked Questions

What does adjustable width actually mean here?

The overhead beam and base allow three column spacings rather than one fixed position. Narrow gives 107.0' of drive-thru clearance with a 150.3' overall footprint, wide gives 118.8' with a 162.1' footprint, and there is a middle setting between them. You choose at installation based on your bay, and it can be changed later if the shop layout changes. Fixed-width lifts make that decision permanent.

Which setting should I use?

Narrow if the bay is tight and you want walking room around the vehicle, wide if dual rear wheel trucks and full-size vans are regular work. Most general repair shops land in the middle. Call us with your bay width and the widest vehicle you service and we will tell you which one to spec.

How much ceiling height do I need?

The lift stands 141.7' to the top of the overhead bar, so plan on a 12'-3' ceiling measured to the lowest obstruction, not the peak. If your bay is under 12 feet, the LTPF12 floorplate lift gives you the same 12,000 lb capacity at 114.0' tall. If you have more height and service tall vans, the optional LTPA12-EXT kit adds two feet.

How does this compare to the BR10-2OH-33?

Both are adjustable-width direct drive overhead lifts with cable equalization, and they are close cousins. The BR10-2OH-33 is 10,000 lbs and ALI Certified, which matters if a fleet contract, insurer, or inspection program requires it. The LTPA12 trades that certification for 2,000 lbs more capacity and slightly longer arms. If certification is on your checklist, take the BR10. If raw capacity is, take this one.

What concrete does it need?

Daytona's documents differ on this lift's concrete (manual floor section: 4' of steel-reinforced 3,500 PSI concrete cured 28 days; manual installation section: C30 foundations deeper than 600 mm; Daytona flyer: minimum 6' at 4,000 PSI), so confirm with Daytona before ordering. The slab must be cured and level within 3/8' across the installation area, with no anchor placed within 6' of a crack, edge, or expansion joint. If your slab does not qualify, a pad can be poured to accommodate the lift. Check with your local building inspector about permits before installation. Verifying concrete is the customer's responsibility, and installing on an inadequate slab is genuinely dangerous.

Do I need three phase power?

No. 240V single phase, 3 HP, 13 amps, 60Hz on a dedicated circuit. Have a licensed electrician confirm the circuit and breaker sizing before the installer arrives.

How does delivery work?

The LTPA12 ships as freight in two pieces: the lift at 138' x 22' x 41' and 2,400 lbs, and the power unit at 31' x 11' x 12' and 60 lbs. If you order the optional height kit it comes as a third crate at 210 lbs. Curbside freight delivery and warehouse pickup are both available, and a lift specialist can quote the options for your ZIP.

What is the warranty?

Five years structural, two years on power units, cylinders, and seal kits, and one year on all other defective parts. Daytona has served shops in the United States and Canada since 1999 and stocks parts in regional warehouses.

Recommended Concrete Slab & Electrical Setup

Verify your shop bay dimensions before installation. Contact our lift specialists at contact@garageequippro.shop with any questions.

Concrete Slab Depth

9K–11K lb lifts typically require 4″–5.9″ of 3,000 PSI cured concrete (28+ days cure on new pours). Heavy-duty 12K–16K lb models require 5″–6″ depth.

Electrical Supply

Most 2-post lifts and commercial 4-post lifts use a dedicated 220V single-phase 30A circuit breaker. Select 8,500 lb & 9,500 lb 4-post storage lifts offer 110V options.

Ceiling Clearance

Measure from the garage slab to your lowest overhead obstruction (door opener, tracks, or beam) and compare against the Overall Height in the Specifications table.
